Representatives Selected for Eastern and Western Regions

Team representatives for the Eastern and Western regions have been selected following the qualifying playdowns held on January 20th . Congratulations to all.

Eastern Region

Girls: Heidi Simpson, Mackenzie Janes, Madison Feltham, Grace Saunders with Emily Stokes as the alternate
Boys: Cameron Oram, Robyn Feltham, Austin Chaulk, Grant Chaulk.

Western Region

Girls: Taylor Gambin, Aleisha White

Boys:  Ethan Bennett, Jake Young, Billy Barnes, Blake Gambin and Alternate Justin Young

Badminton NL is a member of Badminton Canada, Sport NL, and Recreation NL. Our mission is to encourage and support the provision of enjoyable and meaningful badminton experiences for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians of all ages and abilities.

Badminton is the second most popular sport in the world, second only to soccer.

Badminton is the fastest racquet sport in the word, a shuttle can reach speeds in excess of 490 km/hr

Badminton is a highly aerobic sport which can be played throughout one's lifetime.

In a typical two-game match, a player can run approximately one mile.

There are two types of shuttles: plastic and feather which are made with goose feathers. A feather shuttle has 16 feathers and weighs between 4.74 and 5.50 grams.
