The Eastern Junior will take place on January 6-7, 2012 in Conception Bay South. Competition will take place at Frank Roberts Junior Hgh and Queen Elizabeth Regional High.
Badminton NL is pleased to announce the 2012 Eastern Open to be held on January 28, 2012 at St. Kevin's High, Goulds, NL. The entry deadline is 6 pm, Friday, January 20, 2012.
The tournament will be an LTAD event in which participants will compete in round robin pools.
The Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation is pleased to accept applications from provincial athletes requesting financial assistance to help offset the costs associated with training and travel to competitions. Congratulations to Emily Alexander(Stephenville Junior Badminton Club), the only athlete from Newfoundland and Labrador to compete in the 2011 Black Knight Atlantic Junior Elite Series. The three day event was held in Moncton, New Brunswick from December 16-18, 2011. Coached by Mike Alexander of Stephenville, Emily reached the quarterfinals in U16 Girl's Doubles with Gabrielle Gourdeau of Quebec, the quarters in U16 Mixed with Ottawa's Chuheng Xing, and the top 16 in U16 Singles.
Sport Newfoundland and Labrador is now accepting nominations from Provincial Sport Organizations for the 2012 Annual Awards. Awards are considered for an outstanding event performance or a series of performances in the year of nomination from January - December, 2011.
The Junior Provincial Championships will be held in Labrador City at Menehik High from February 17-19, 2012.
Badminton Newfoundland and Labrador will be incorporating an LTAD approach to this tournament in which the age categories of U14, U16, U19 will be used where athletes will compete in pool play.
