Adult Community Event, November 26th 2022 – Leary’s Brook Junior High

Hello parents and supporters of junior badminton players as well as recreational players.

EVENT

The Adult Community Event will occur Saturday, November 26 at Leary’s Brook Junior High, on Larkhall Street in St. John’s.

ENTRY FEE

$20 per team. Players without partners may request a partner at the time of entry.

Please read the regulations — below — carefully.

This is an event simply to bring club and other recreational adult players together for a day of good fun and socializing.

The description of the event is below. If you do not already have Badminton NL membership, use the link in the description.

The tournament is open to any recreational adult, whether a club member or not, provided Badminton NL membership is obtained.

If you know a recreational player who might like to participate, feel free to forward this email.

Note: This is not a competitive event and does not provide successful participants with a Badminton NL ranking.

Any player who was ranked in the past five years, including junior rankings is ineligible to play.

Adult Community Doubles Event Rules and Notes

ELIGIBILITY

The Adult Community Doubles Event is open to those aged 19 and over as of December 31 of the year of the tournament, and who have not been ranked competitors in the past 5 years either provincially, nationally or internationally within or outside Newfoundland and Labrador. The purpose of this event is to provide recreational and community players with an a day of fun play and a chance to meet other recreational players.

Participants must have an active Badminton NL membership which is to be purchased online at http://www.badmintonnl.ca/membership-tournament-entry-guide/.

EVENTS

There will be one category of doubles. Partners must be two adults age 19 and over, in any combination of genders.

FORMAT

  • This event will be played as a round-robin with a number of pools according to the size of the entry.
  • Matches will be best of three games of 21 unless the number of entries makes this impractical, in which case one game of 21 will be used.
  • The competition will be conducted under the Official Rules and Laws of Badminton, as conducted by Badminton Canada and the Badminton World Federation, including General Competition Regulations.

PRIZES

To be determined depending on the size of the entry field.

SHUTTLES

Nylon shuttles will be provided. If opposing teams agree, feathers may be used.
